Case file 01 · The case opens
A fast, native desktop client for SQL Server and Azure SQL, on Windows and macOS.
Every statement is logged, every generated script is shown before it runs, and your passwords stay in the OS keychain.
Built on the system web view, not a bundled browser. A 2-million-row result scrolls without freezing, and Stop cancels a running query within 1 second.
Keyboard shortcuts, GO batches, result display and the execution plan viewer work the way SQL Server users expect.
Every statement is logged, generated SQL is shown before it runs, and production connections are impossible to miss.
Entra MFA with no tenant setup, clear firewall errors and Managed Instance support.
Case file 02 · Clarity
A T-SQL editor, a streaming results grid and SSMS-style execution plans, in one native window.
SELECT c.Name, o.Total, o.StatusFROM dbo.Orders AS oJOIN dbo.Customers AS c ON c.Id = o.CustomerIdWHERE o.Status = @statusORDER BY o.
Case file 03 · The vault
Safety is the core of the design. Each guarantee below is in the app today.
Every statement that reaches SQL Server gets a row in the local command log, saved before the result is shown. Blocked statements are logged too.
SELECT c.Name, o.Total FROM dbo.Orders …LoggedUPDATE dbo.Customers SET Email = @p1 …LoggedALTER TABLE dbo.Customers ALTER COLUMN …Logged/* sqleuth:… */ SELECT … FROM sys.objectsLoggedDROP TABLE dbo.OrdersBlocked · loggedGrid saves, designers and object operations show the exact script first. Copy it instead of running it if you prefer. The script that runs is the script you reviewed.
UPDATE dbo.CustomersSET Email = @p1WHERE Id = @p2;
Passwords live only in macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager. They never go into the app’s files, the log or a connection export.
Prod connections get a red rail, a PROD badge and a banner. Editing starts locked behind “Enable editing”, and Enter never executes on prod.
Local rules hide sensitive columns in grids, copies, exports and query results. There is no reveal button. Masking is a local safety feature, not access control.
Safety is never paywalled. All of it works the same in Free. Read the safety page
Case file 04 · The blueprint
The table designer has a live SQL pane that shows exactly what Save will run: ALTER when possible, a one-transaction rebuild when needed.
Rename with impact analysis, drop with blockers shown first, and trace what depends on what in the dependency graph.
ALTER TABLE dbo.CustomersALTER COLUMN Email nvarchar(200);

SSMS runs on Windows only. SQL Sleuth runs on Windows and macOS and keeps the SSMS shortcuts, GO batches, result display and plan viewer you already know, with a modern UI and safety rails.
Microsoft has retired Azure Data Studio. If you are looking for a cross-platform home for your SQL Server and Azure SQL work, SQL Sleuth runs on Windows and macOS.
These are respected multi-database tools. SQL Sleuth goes deep on SQL Server and Azure SQL today, makes safety the core design, has a Free edition and will sell Pro as a perpetual license.
